Braille transcription of chemistry — formulas, equations, and structural representations — for classroom, lab, and exam materials.
Chemistry material has notation the general Nemeth conventions do not fully cover — reaction arrows, state symbols, structural formulas, and stacked super/subscripts on the same element. Christy transcribes chemistry material with care for what a blind reader actually needs to work with the content in class or on an exam.
What’s included
- Chemical formulas with correct subscripts (e.g. H₂O), superscripts, and ionic charges.
- Balanced equations with coefficients, reaction arrows (forward, reverse, equilibrium), and state symbols (s, l, g, aq).
- Structural formulas rendered in braille where the source’s structural detail is meaningful and transcribable; when a diagram is the more accurate representation, it is scoped as a tactile graphic (see Tactile Graphics).
- Isotopes, ionic notation, oxidation states, and stoichiometry.
- Chemistry rendered alongside UEB literary context and Nemeth where the source mixes math and chemistry.
Good candidates
High-school and college chemistry textbooks and workbooks, lab manuals, worksheets, and exam materials. Send a representative sample so Christy can confirm which portions are best served as chemistry-in-braille versus tactile graphics, plus scope and turnaround.
