Nemeth (Math & Science)

Nemeth code transcription for mathematics and science — equations, tables, and spatial arithmetic — used within a UEB literary context.

Nemeth is the braille code for mathematics and scientific notation used in the United States. Christy transcribes Nemeth inside a UEB literary context using the current switch indicators, so the narrative text remains standard UEB and only the mathematical expressions render in Nemeth.

What’s included

  • Inline and displayed math — equations, expressions, and formulas with proper Nemeth opening/closing indicators.
  • Spatial arithmetic — long division, columnar addition, subtraction, multiplication, and other spatially arranged problems where alignment carries meaning.
  • Structured math — tables of values, matrices, systems of equations, aligned proofs, and stacked expressions.
  • Common notation — fractions (simple, complex, hypercomplex), radicals, exponents, subscripts, summations, products, integrals, limits, and logarithms.

Good candidates

Math textbooks and workbooks, science textbooks with equations, worksheets, homework packets, and exam materials. If your source contains chemistry notation (reactions, structural formulas), see Chemistry Notation — it is scoped and quoted separately.

Send the source or a representative sample and Christy will confirm scope, volume count, and turnaround.
