Braille Music

Braille music transcription across vocal (Latin, French, Portuguese, German, and Spanish), piano, violin, and Suzuki-method repertoire — for students, studios, and performers.

Braille music is its own code — it does not map one-to-one to print notation, and a good transcription reads the way a musician actually rehearses. Christy transcribes across the following areas:

Areas covered

  • Vocal — Latin. Sacred and classical Latin repertoire, with the text aligned to the music per braille-music vocal conventions.
  • Vocal — French. French-language vocal repertoire (art song, choral, liturgical), with correct handling of French diacritics and elision.
  • Portuguese, German, and Spanish vocal music. Music with text in these languages for lessons, rehearsal, and performance.
  • Piano. Keyboard music with correct hand assignment, in-accord passages, intervals, and pedaling as marked.
  • Violin. String repertoire with bowings, string indications, harmonics, and double stops as marked.
  • Suzuki method. Books and pieces from the Suzuki violin and piano method sequences, transcribed for students working through the standard repertoire.

What’s included

  • Musical elements — clefs, key and time signatures, tempo, dynamics, articulations, ornaments, and rehearsal marks.
  • Repeats, endings, and D.C./D.S. structure preserved so the score reads in performance order.
  • Vocal lines with lyrics correctly aligned to notes, and translations handled per source.

Good candidates

Studio students, choir singers, church musicians, and independent performers who need reliable braille scores for practice, lessons, or performance. Send the print score (or a scan) and Christy will confirm scope, format (single-line vs. bar-over-bar, etc.), and turnaround.
