Literary Braille
Unified English Braille (UEB) transcription of fiction, nonfiction, and general reading material — contracted or uncontracted, formatted to BANA guidelines.
Literary braille is the code most readers encounter first — the code of stories, essays, articles, and everyday reading. Christy transcribes literary material in Unified English Braille (UEB), contracted by default or uncontracted on request (for early readers, ESL learners, or specific classroom needs).
What’s included
- Print-to-braille transcription of the source text, preserving structure (chapters, sections, subheadings) and reading order.
- BANA-compliant formatting: heading levels, print/braille page numbering, running heads, blocked quotations, poetry lineation, and lists.
- Special-symbol handling as it appears in the source — foreign words, emphasis (italic, bold, underline), letters standing alone, and typeforms.
- A proofreading pass against the print before delivery.
Good candidates
Novels, short-story collections, articles, essay assignments, workbooks with predominantly text content, and general classroom readings. If the source is math-heavy, science-heavy, or contains chemistry notation, see Nemeth (Math & Science) or Chemistry Notation instead — they run inside a UEB context and are quoted separately.
